Process Guidance in CRM 2013 OR Business Process Flows in CRM 2013 OR How to change an existing Business Process Flow in CRM 2013

Process guidance is a cool feature in CRM 2013. Its possible to define new Business Process Flow as per our need. But before that lets see how could we make changes to the existing Business Process Flow.


First Q is 'Where could i find the business process flow configuration in CRM 2013' OR 'How do i configure the Business process flow in CRM 2013'

Here is the Navigation

1. Microsoft Dynamics CRM -- > Settings --> Processes


2. By default, you could find the following Business work flows already configured in CRM 2013.



3. By the way, lets have a quick look at the Opportunity form.




4. The ideal scenario for Business Process Flow would be Opportunities. So lets have a look at the Opportunities Business Process Flow. We could open it by just double clicking on it.



We could find 4 stages defined here.
  • Qualify
  • Develop
  • Propose
  • Close
Each stage has steps in it.  For instance, Identify Account, Identify Contact these are steps of a stage.  Using steps we could choose the fields. 
For instance, For the Identify Account, Account field found on Opportunity is selected.
  • Is it possible to rename the stages ?  --- Yes
  • Is it possible to reorder the stages? -- Yes
  • Is it possible to Delete an existing stage ? -- Yes
  • Is it possible to include more stages ? -- Yes

Lets check these one by one.

5 . How to rename stages of a Business Process Flow in CRM 2013 ? Its simple.
Lets change the name DEVELOP to DEVELOPMENT. We could change it just by clicking on it.



6. How to reorder the stages / steps of a Business Process Flow in CRM 2013 ? 
Please note the MOVE UP / MOVE DOWN arrows. All we need to do is to select the stage / step and then click MOVE UP / DOWN as per our need.



7.  How to Delete an existing stage / step of a Business Process Flow in CRM 2013. 
Please note the highlighted spots. We could just hover on the stage / step and then on the right hand side  corner of the stage, we could see a cross symbol as shown below.


8. How to include more stage / steps in a Business process flow of CRM 2013. 
Please note the + symbol for Stage and step.

Well, this is called simplicity. 



9.  Please note that in each step, there is a field associated. Also we could put a friendly name for the step. We could make the step as 'Required' by ticking the check box. Its all optional. So in simple words Business Process Flows in CRM 2013 are flexible and configurable
